6.5 - Ping Pong the Animation: Masaaki Yuasa (2014)

Ping Pong the Animation (2014) strays further from visual convention while complementing its original work through 4-panel style cuts and transitions. The internal character struggles are fancily conveyed through symbolism, most prominently during the beginning and ending of the show. Its slower arcs are lessons in patience, while its fast-paced ping pong is a direct opposite. The whole story is concluded in a tasteful yet underwhelming manner.
